Disappointment:
- Looks like: a little girl's lost teddy bear *
- Tastes like: a million regrets
- Feels like: a shower of nails
- Sounds like: a closing door
- Smells like: charcoal smoke, stinging and burning
Amazement:
- Looks like: a baby's first smile
- Tastes like: a deep breath of fresh air
- Feels like: a new friend
- Sounds like: unrestrained laughter
- Smells like: electricity and rain
*Disappointment looks like a little girl's lost teddy bear.
The teddy bear, lost behind a bed, listening to the family search for it, looking everywhere else except for where he is. The fear of never being found, of life continuing on without him. And everyone eventually forgetting he ever existed. THe fear of being forgotten, of not being wanted or needed, a fear that we find in all of us. A seedling left out in the wind. Hidden behind the bed, years of dust caked in his fur, the sound of life passing on all around him while he lies stuck just beyond sight. Sounds like laughter of the little girl, laughter he cannot share or did not cause. Finally, moving day, sunlight! Fresh air! A squeal of surprise, warm hands, a loving hug. Found again! Loved again.

Jack: So?
Ianto: There are a lot of things you can do with a stopwatch...
